Far Cry...

"It's a Far Cry from the world we thought we'd inherit..."
- Rush, 2007

Nothing could be more truthful...

So, I did get the promotion...and now I am in the middle of a 23 day stretch with no days off...

Yippee...careful what you wish for, no?

"It's a Far Cry from the way we thought we'd share it..."

I can't say its completely horrible..I'm actually liking the new position, and am acclimating to it well - or at least I perceive so. I'm trying really hard to make it a smooth transition, but nothing worth doing is smooth or easy. So, I have kind of resigned myself to a couple of months of struggling, lack of sleep, no social life, etc, until I can better manage my time and those under my watchful eye. I am determined to be successful at this job - failure is not an option. I work hard, and I try to work smart, so basically I have a lot to juggle, but I try to do it efficiently - though its harder right now...

I can't wait for November to be over...

"One day I feel I'm on top of the world,
and the next it's falling in on me...

... I can get back on,
I can get back on"

I have been trying really hard to satisfy irate clients, balance payrolls, do schedules, etc., but sometimes the best of intentions can be misread, and that acts a bit like a steam roller over my psyche. I try not to let it bother me, but it does. There is nothing worse than doing what you feel is your best for someone only to have them spit it back and basically say 'this isn't good enough...in fact, that's even worse...'

"One day I feel I'm ahead of the wheel
and the next it's rolling over me...

... I can get back on,
I can get back on"

At least I did get some good news - I saved a bunch of money on my car insura--- no, that wasn't it...

Oh, yeah... the boat is FIXED!!!! YAY! Mechanic thinks it runs great, sounds great, but couldn't take it for a test drive (float?) because John had the key! hehehe I am hoping we can go out one day soon for an hour just to get an idea of how everything is running... But that also means that I need a day off - next one is Nov. 21...ick

"One day I fly though a crack in the sky,
and the next it's falling in on me...

... I can get back on,
I can get back on"

In the end, though, I cannot complain too much...I have had this position not even 4 weeks, things aren't going THAT bad, and fences are being mended. I have a boat that runs, I have a company car that is pretty nice (apart from being burgundy...eeesh!!), and I have a good idea of where I am going now... Eager to see what's behind the next door... I'll let you know what's inside...

I can get back on"
